Need help playing FFVIII

Dec 13, 2011 at 5:33 PM

So I'm trying to play an IMG file of Final Fantasy VIII. It loads up the intro and goes to the main menu but when I choose new game it crashes every time. It says PCSXR quit unexpectedly and the there's a long ass description of the problem details that don't make too much sense to me because I'm not all that smart with programming.   Here's some of the problem details....Let me know if there's any more info needed or if anyone knows how I can get this game working please.

Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)

Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x000000000066c102

I'm guessing you're using Mac OS X. If possible, post the full crash log: it'll help debug the issue. Also, make sure you have dynarec disabled: it causes issues on Mac OS X.

It tells me that the sound driver crashed.

How can I fix that?

Dario86: sorry for that. I was trying to make it compile fine under Clang, which uses gnu99 instead of gnu89 as the default dialect. Apparently just plain inline causes linking problems when compiled in gnu99 mode. Also, I didn't know how the PCSX-R plug-ins handled some source files (I was shocked when some .c files were included!). Expect a patch soon to fix it.

timiscute: try using the OpenAL plug-in. It might work, it might not. Also, try messing with your sound settings.
