Metal gear solid problems on osx

running 10.5.8


Just installed and built the newest build in xcode.


Metal Gear loads up and has really choppy sound at the intro and movie.   Then when I play the vr missions, it lets me get through about one, then the sound stops working and I can continue the level until i beat it and try to move on, but it then freezes.


Any suggestions?   Thanks.

So you're using changeset 61112 and this happens? Is it PAL or NTSC? (you might need to force PAL detection through cpu options)

Did you compile and configure the latest dfsound spu plugin?

- high compat mode

- gaussian / cubic interpolation

- full reverb mode

- spu irq #1 on - mgs fix (wait for cpu action)

I never checked MGS with the latest win32 builds so I'm not sure.

I am on OSX so all there is is the osx sound plugin.



I forced PAL and it works fine now!   Thank you!

EDIT:   The cutscenes still have choppy sound and sound cuts out during gameplay still rarely.  A freeze and defrost fixes the cut outs, but not the cutscenes.
