pcsxr 1.9.93 Linux black water

description

Hi

I am tried tomb raider 2 and 4;

TR2:
It works pretty fine except water; The water is always black and Lara becomes invisible swimming it; The emulator is located in official os repository; All previous versions I tried during this year had same black water problem; Seems like the issue is in tr2 only IMHO cause tr1, tr3, tr4 have pretty fine alpha support;

TR4:
Concerning the tr4 there is a problem in game saving; After saved game I can see "saved OK" but on load game I can see "there is no saved... in memory card etc"

So my question is... Is there a patch (gpu .so) which has the mentioned fix or some conf workaround which I still searching btw;

I am using OS Manjaro Linux x64 (kernel 4.1.6) right now;

If you need some additional info let me know

Thanks

Hello Mark001,

That version of pcsxr is too old please try using a newer version. You try can compile it from source.First uninstall the version you have from synaptic. Then download the latest version found here.

https://pcsxr.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets "Click download button on the upper right of the page"

In a terminal type : sudo apt-get install subversion autoconf intltool libtool libsdl1.2-dev libgtk-3-dev libxv-dev libxtst-dev nasm libxxf86vm-dev build-essential

Then extract the file you downloaded.

Then type in a ternimal : cd /home/yourusername/Downloads/pcsxr-version

then type: chmod 755 ./autogen.sh

then type: ./autogen.sh

then type: ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-libcdio --enable-sound=sdl --enable-opengl --enable-sio1

then type: make

then type: sudo make install

Thank you for your reply

I am using version 1.9.93 for linux x64; Is it too old? And does the version you suggest solve the "black water" and "non-save" problems? I mean how to know that for sure? Please give me a tip

Solis wrote Jan 24, 2016 at 2:53 PM

Hello Mark001,

Pcsxr-1.9.93 came out Aug 26, 2013. It's pretty old. The latest is pcsxr-97809. And i played both ofthose games and i did not have the problems you mention with more recent versions of pcsxr. The onlyissue in Tomb Raider 2 i remember is that if in pcsxr-97809/plugins/dfsound/spu.c you don't change

//s_chan[ch].bStop = 1;to s_chan[ch].bStop = 1; "on line 796 just below Xenogears - 7"

game sometimes would hang at loading screen and this also fixes Legacy of Kain Blood Omen freezingup as well.

@Solis

Sounds great; But I am not sure how to compile the package in Manjaro Linux x64 case? Are the mentiones dependencies same?

Solis wrote Jan 24, 2016 at 5:55 PM

Hello Mark001,

I'm sorry i gave you instrustions for debian type. I believe this are the dependency names of the packages you need.

sudo pacman -S libxv libtool sdl subversion libxtst nasm libxxf86vm gtk3 autogen autoconf-2.64 intltool

Then download the latest version found here.

https://pcsxr.codeplex.com/SourceControl/list/changesets "Click download button on the upper right of the page"

Then extract the file you downloaded.

Then type in a ternimal : cd /home/yourusername/Downloads/pcsxr-version

then type: chmod 755 ./autogen.sh

then type: ./autogen.sh

then type: ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-libcdio --enable-sound=sdl --enable-opengl --enable-sio1

then type: make

then type: sudo make install

Please give more details what file should contain that line? You mean in version 1.9.93 I still have to change that line to make it workaround the "black water" effect?

mark001 wrote Jan 27, 2016 at 11:38 AM

...and does version 97809 solves tr4 "non-save" issues?

mark001 wrote Jan 27, 2016 at 1:19 PM

I just compiled and installed version 97809; It has version 1.9.95 now instead of 1.9.93; I tested it so :

tr2 - water is transparent (tested on levels 0,1)tr4 - game saves/loads oktr5 - controllers work (forgot to mention tr5 has "buttons disabled effect" on version 1.9.93);

So seems pretty fine;

p.s. But for some reason silenthill cannot start :P Version 1.9.93 has same silenthill non-start issues... Is there a configuration workaround for this game? Please give me a tip

mark001 wrote Jan 27, 2016 at 1:25 PM

p.p.s I couldn't find the checksum to verify the version 97809 source package integrity; Where is is located?

Solis wrote Jan 27, 2016 at 7:40 PM

Hello Mark001,

Silent Hill may need the psx bios scph1001.bin from your playstation. You will need to copyit to /home/user/.pcsxr/bios then run pcsxr. pcsxr>Configure>Plugins and BiosThen goto the drop down menu list under bios and select scph1001 then close button.

On pcsxr-97809/plugins/dfsound/spu.c you need to change

//s_chan[ch].bStop = 1; to s_chan[ch].bStop = 1

You can do a search for xeno at the second time you see xeno gears look around there.

I don't know if there is a checksum for pcsxr.

mark001 wrote Jan 28, 2016 at 3:20 PM

@Solis

I don't see the line as
//s_chan[ch].bStop = 1;
...at all in file "/home/user/.pcsxr/plugins/dfsound.cfg" it contains only this :

Volume = 1

UseInterpolation = 2

XAPitch = 0

HighCompMode = 1

SPUIRQWait = 1

DisStereo = 0

FreqResponse = 0

UseReverb = 2

or you mean if the line does not exist I have to integrate it manually? GIve me a tip please

mark001 wrote Jan 28, 2016 at 3:25 PM

Oh, wait a second you mean the source code object? OK I got it but what the modification does?

Solis wrote Jan 28, 2016 at 5:54 PM

Hello Mark001,

Yes i mean the source code.

It fixes Tomb Raider 2 sometimes not loading up and Legacy of Kain Blood Omen freezing up.

mark001 wrote Feb 12, 2016 at 8:18 PM

@Solis

I tested on tr2; Sometimes version 1.9.95 hangs on going to "options" mode or just hangs(freezes) even if the mentioned source code modification presents; I'll try to start pcsxr with terminal and catch the errors but still I am not sure is it an often hang issue?

Solis wrote Feb 12, 2016 at 9:41 PM

Hello Mark001,

I know i beat tr2 and i did not have any freezing once i have added the patch. Hereis a reason why i can think it's not working.

1.You may have a bad image.
  1. Maybe you forgot remove all version of pcsxr you had and the plugins? Also i would delete /home/user/.pcsxr/pcsxr.cfg
You can check /usr/lib/games/psemu and /usr/lib64/games/psemu. Make sure there are noplugins before you install the new version.

If that does not work you try turning on

spu wait on the dfsound.

3.Maybe you did something wrong with the patch.

If that does not fix the issue i will add a new attachment for my pcsxr-97809S with all my patches. It will be at the top of the page. All you have to do is compile it.

mark001 wrote Mar 2, 2016 at 5:58 PM

@Solis

I just checked the dirs as /usr/lib/games/psemu and /usr/lib64/games/psemu and they both are empty; Concerning the plugins emm... what about the /home/tester/.pcsxr/plugins/ location for example? I just uninstalled pcsxr...

$make uninstall$make clean

so what next; please guide me

you mean the installation doesn't refresh the plugins' folder?

Solis wrote Mar 3, 2016 at 11:33 AM

Hello Mark001,

Sometime people compile pcsxr with -libdir=/usr/lib64 and forget to uninstall it. Then they compilethe new version of pcsxr without -libdir=/usr/lib64, so pcsxr makes the plugins in /usr/lib and whenyou start pcsxr your old pcsxr.cfg is still pointing to the plugins in usr/lib64 instead of the new/usr/lib directory.

Hello Mark001,

intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error

I'm not sure but i looks like a video-driver issue. Did you update your video driver?

I would ask in the here.

You can try looking at this post.

I have solved this problem using UXA acceleration method instead of SNA (particularly to run StarCraft through Wine). Look here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel#Installation.

The uxa disables 3d acceleration, as I can remember, so it is quite no-good for my bay trail case :P

If the issue is really related to video driver only... emm... I have updated my video driver to xf86-video-intel-1:2.99.917+556+g0532031-0.1 so I'll try how it works with pcsxr and tell you the results

Hello Mark001,

If it is a problem with the video driver you should report that on the manjaro forumsthey have a fix for it.

I tried to remove the 1.9.93 plugins and *.cfg to make the 97809 generate the new ones so it did but it seems like the 97809's plugins still hang despite I have instaled a more new video driver; I have the error with 97809's plugins : intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error

Solis wrote Mar 6, 2016 at 9:23 PM

Hello Mark001,

Unfortunately i don't have an intel video card to try and see if i could fix the problem. Did you getany reponses from the manjaro forums?

BTW: 2 other things you may want to try.

1.Set pcsxr to use interperter.

Pcsxr>configure>cpu>Enable Interpreter CPU.

2.Try the opengl plugin just to make sure it's not just a problem with Xvideo.

mark001 wrote Mar 7, 2016 at 8:46 PM

I just enabled the cpu interpreter but seems like the enabled option makes at least tr2 sound to shake :( It is quite annoying cause seems like the sound packages are reading slower or something :P

mark001 wrote Mar 7, 2016 at 9:03 PM

I am really confused why the older 1.9.93 version plugins in my case work better? Is there a way to analyse that?

Solis wrote Mar 7, 2016 at 9:50 PM

Hello Mark001,

Interpreter is slower. Since i'm using slackware and your using manjaro this is why i toldyou to try in the manjaro forums. They should have someone there that can help youwith your problem. There maybe a problem with the video driver on manjaro.

You try this to analyze it.

Open a terminal type: gdb /usr/bin/pcsxr "press enter" then type: r "press enter" then run a game "when it crashes on the terminal with gdb" type: bt "press enter"
