Hello Everyone,

I get this message in the terminal when playing Castlevania STON with scph1001.bin
  • sim is not known device
    • Known devices are:
    • tty: CONSOLE
    • cdrom: CD-ROM
    • bu: MEMORY CARD
This does not appear to affect game play.

Hello Everyone,

I just beat Castlevania STON on pcsxr-89233 with scph1001. The game seemed slow in a few areas that in the HLE-Bios
does not have. Maybe the sim is not a known device is causing slow downs?

"Sim is not a known device" could be from the game or the BIOS/OS. It most likely is from the BIOS, saying the game is looking for some hardware that isn't available. What the "sim" device/hardware is, I don't know.

Just my hunch that it was a special device developers used.

Now that you have stdout enabled on PSX, you will see messages that normal user wouldn't ever.

Also since it is outputting text via slow interface it could affect performance, however not likely case here that it affects that much. It is just that simulated bios runs faster than real bios does.
